Craig Robert Gye was born on the 26th September, 1959, sixty-nine years to the day when Wong Ah Gye was accused of interfering with a witness during a trial in his role as policeman/interpreter, for which he was subsequently dismissed. Given the significance bestowed on numbers by the Chinese, it seems worth noting that Craig is only the second Gye (after Wong Ah Gye) to join the police force. Perhaps what goes around comes around. Craig was always a bright spark. He skipped grades in primary school and ended up in university at the age of 16. But academic development and social development don't always go hand in hand and university life didn't suit him. He has found his niche in police work, rising through the ranks to become a District Supervisor in the Special Operations Unit in Gippsland. He has two children, Kathryn (born in 1988) and Daniel (born in 1992) and has recently separated from his wife of 15 years, Kim. Marriage breakups seem to run in the family.
