Greg Gye was born on February 4th, 1971 to Joan and David Gye. A half brother to Brad and Craig and me. When he was a baby, he looked Chinese. We had no idea, at that time, why.

What do I know of my little half brother? I think I know more about the grandfather I never met. Strange how a difference of only ten years seems so insurmountable. The family ties are the only things that seem to bind us together. We never shared a house, only see each other on special occasions. How many families are built on such tenuous links? Is this one reason why we search for our ancestors - because we are trying to consolidate an otherwise ephemeral sense of family?
