Bridget "Tess" Hayes

Tess was very young when both of her parents died and was raised by her sisters, Kate and Poll, in the family home at Cumberland Place. Her daughter, Marie Hayes, was born when Tess was 44 years of age. Marie's father, Robert Gye, and Tess never married and Marie was subsequently placed in foster care. Marie returned to Cumberland Place when she was five and lived there until she was married in 1940. Tess continued to live and work in the city in the area known as Lil' Lon.
